![]() ![]() Downtown Heart of Breadalbane Breadalbane at one time was a bustling rural village with mills, hotels, stores and busy railway station. When we lived on the Glen Road, Ivan Kennedy's Clover Farm store was the last remaining commercial estalishment. Ivan was a friend to everyone, and a living legend throughout much of Prince Edward Island. This song is a tribute to him. Listen to this song (You'll need an MP3 player to listen.) Lyrics How many years have you leaned on that counter Relating stories and rumors you've heard Trying to be friendly as you give out bad credit In the country that's part of the storekeeper's trade Chorus: The downtown heart of Breadalbane Is alive and beating tonight But there's no hurry at all No big shopping malls Just an old man who's gone past his time Under the glow of the Clover Farm sign How many dances did you miss as a young man When the family business had to come before fun Unloading boxcars, trying to make yourself useful In the country there's always hard work to be done Repeat Chorus Twice End Players Vocal: Allan Rankin Drums: Dave Burton Bass: Jamie Gatti Acoustic Guitar: Chris Corrigan Fiddle & Mandolin: Ray Legere Yamaha 9ft Concert Grand Piano: Kim Dunn Copyright Wild Garden Music (SOCAN) |
